David Papp is an information technology author, speaker, technology advisor & enthusiast in Edmonton, AB, whose children found a Robin's nest in their backyard. Realizing the opportunity to showcase the power of technology & social media, he installed a web cam. We're happy to invite you & your friends to follow along!
2 - 6 days to build nest with average of 180 trips
Male and female take turns covering eggs for warmth including babies after hatching
Chicks are fed by both parents. They eat about 35 to 40 meals a day.
Hatching 1 day apart usually within 2 weeks from laying egg
Babies stay in nest typically 9 - 16 days
Unfortunately on average only 40 percent of nests successfully produce young and half of those alive in any year make it to the next.
Lucky robins can live to be 14 years old, average age is 6 years.
